For our 17th annual Winter Wonderland, Howe Ranch transforms into an immersive holiday retreat filled with snow-covered forests, Highland calves at your doorstep, glowing chalet windows, crackling winter coziness, nostalgic traditions, festive treats and whimsical Christmas spaces around nearly every corner.
For years, guests have returned to Howe Ranch at Christmastime for the atmosphere, traditions and unmistakable feeling that happens when the ordinary world seems to disappear for a little while. Now, in the snowy foothills of Glacier National Park, that tradition enters its most magical chapter yet.
From gingerbread and elves to nostalgic vintage Christmas, peppermint, Grinch-inspired whimsy and classic old-world holiday décor, our spaces are thoughtfully transformed throughout the ranch. The Stable Chalet, stables, gathering spaces and surrounding property become part of one beautifully layered Christmas experience — warm, playful, nostalgic and unmistakably Howe Ranch.
Curated Winter Wonderland spaces, cozy seasonal touches, festive treats, hot craft drinks, photo-worthy moments and little surprises are woven throughout your stay. And outside it all: towering evergreens, snow-covered pastures, rushing Brown Creek, storybook chalet architecture and some of the sweetest animals you will ever meet.

- Every reservation receives exclusive use of the entire Stable Chalet — all bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas are included regardless of guest count

The animals remain at the heart of Howe Ranch, and Christmas Inn gives you time to truly enjoy them. Meet our mini Highland cow herd, cuddle and help care for our babies, spend time with our Valais Blacknose lambs, visit our goats, love on our lop bunnies, say hello to Dolly the emu and get to know the personalities that make ranch life so special. Depending on the season, weather and the animals' individual needs, experiences may include feeding, grooming, cuddling, helping with care routines and simply spending quiet time together. This is never meant to feel like looking at animals from the other side of a fence. Howe Ranch experiences are built around meaningful interaction.

During Christmas Inn, the ranch becomes home to our 17th annual Winter Wonderland — a collection of themed holiday environments and traditions created to make Christmas feel wonderfully larger than life again. Wander through spaces inspired by nostalgic Christmases past, gingerbread, peppermint, elves, whimsical North Pole scenes, pink Christmas, playful Grinch-inspired touches and classic old-world holiday styling. Some spaces are extravagant. Some are cozy. Some are wonderfully silly. Together, they create the feeling of discovering one Christmas world after another.

After arrival and settling into the Stable Chalet, we'll welcome you into the Christmas Inn experience and introduce you to the ranch. Your first evening may include meeting the herd, exploring some of our holiday spaces, enjoying seasonal hospitality and easing into the slower rhythm of winter ranch life. There is no need to race through anything. You have two nights here.
🍼 Evening at the Barn
As daylight fades and the lights begin to glow, join us for one of the most memorable parts of ranch life — helping settle the animals for the evening. Depending on the animals' needs, you may assist with feeding, spend time cuddling babies, visit everyone in the decorated stables and experience the quiet rhythm of the ranch at night. There is something particularly magical about a warm barn, sleepy animals and holiday lights while snow settles outside.
🗺️ A Christmas Scavenger Hunt
Our traditional Howe Ranch Scavenger Hunt gets a holiday twist during Christmas Inn. Follow clues through decorated spaces, whimsical displays, ranch landmarks and hidden Winter Wonderland corners as you explore the property and discover some of the details tucked throughout Winter Wonderland.
🫏 Winter Donkey Adventures
When weather and trail conditions allow, spend time with Annie or Elsie, our Austrian Baroque donkeys, and venture toward Brown Creek. A snowy forest, rushing water, crisp mountain air and one very charming donkey make for a distinctly Montana Christmas memory.

Bring your camera. Christmas Inn is filled with opportunities for photographs among the animals, snow, chalet architecture and decorated holiday environments. From Highland calves against a snowy pasture to peppermint displays, glowing lights, decorated stables and cozy Christmas interiors, there is no shortage of places to capture your stay.
🌲 Slow Winter Mornings
One of the greatest luxuries of Christmas Inn is time. Wake up without an itinerary packed from morning until night. Make coffee. Look outside for deer. Visit the animals. Watch snow move through the trees. Listen to Brown Creek. Wander back into a Christmas room you loved the night before. There is structured programming throughout your stay, but there is also room to simply enjoy being here. The point is not to rush through Christmas. The point is to feel it.

Howe Ranch sits among towering evergreens in the foothills of Glacier National Park, surrounded by forest, mountain scenery, wildlife and rushing water. The Castle Chalet's stone turrets and old-world timber architecture feel almost made for winter. Add snow, glowing windows, Christmas lights and tiny Highland cows wandering nearby, and the entire property takes on a storybook quality that is difficult to describe until you are standing in the middle of it. Private Stays Only — Not an Event Venue: Howe Ranch Christmas Inn stays are private retreats for personal use only. The property may not be used to host weddings, ceremonies, celebrations, parties, or any organized group event. Reservations found to be in violation of this policy will be cancelled without refund and guests will be asked to vacate the property immediately.
Guest Count Policy: Rates are based on the total number of registered guests participating in the stay. Every guest age 1 and older must be included in the reservation guest count due to ranch programming, animal interaction, supervision, property capacity, and liability management. Maximum occupancy: 8 registered guests.
Booking, Cancellation & Transfer Policy: All investments in experiences at Howe Ranch are non-refundable immediately upon booking. Once an experience is reserved, those dates are blocked from other guests and resources are allocated specifically toward preparing and facilitating your experience.
Reservations cannot be moved, rescheduled, credited, or changed to a later date. No exceptions.
In the event of extenuating circumstances that prevent you from attending, you may transfer the entire reservation to another party within your personal network rather than forfeiting the experience. To complete a transfer, Howe Ranch must receive the replacement guest's full name, phone number, and email address. The transferred reservation remains subject to the original reservation date, guest-count requirements, policies, and terms.
